21 Grams is intense. It's about the lives of a terminally ill Mathematics professor, an ex con man who becomes so religious and a grieving mother whose husband and daughters are killed in a hit and run. Cristina Peck (Watts) is a normal housewife. Her husband and two little daughters are killed in a hit and run accident by Jack Jordan (Del Toro). She then decides to donate her husband's heart which is received by Paul Rivers (Penn), a Math professor. He decides to find out whose heart it originally belongs to. He hires a private detective and that's how he meets Cristina. The two start falling for each other as Paul's marriage starts to fall apart and Cristina wants to find the killer of her family. Then, the whole suspense really starts as Jordan struggles as he's being ravaged with guilt and Cristina and Paul look for him, wanting to kill him. Awesome performance by Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and Naomi Watts. Inarritu is a genius. He gives a piece of the puzzle at a time but not in an order that a viewer would usually find and yet it all falls perfectly together. I wasn't able to get the main idea of the movie util after 20 minutes of the movie.
